I spent the day in the studio with my producer, John Rangel....getting closer to completion. As I sing these songs I feel my hands in the rice fields of Sendai, walking with Obaachan to the temple, sipping Ocha with family on the tatami mats, being dressed in kimono by the women of my family, cleaning the ancestors altar and offering food, the big baths, watching the dragonfly around my father's grave, looking at the milky way in Sendai and talking to my father, coming into motherhood, singing shigin with Koji San on taiko, singing in circle with my choir and meeting the ONE, my love.
I dedicate this CD to my father, Tadaharu Sato (1948-1980).
I am going to Boulder, CO this week to sing in a benefit concert for Sendai at Naropa. Sawagi Benefit. See you there!Japan Benefit, Naropa University Boulder, CO
