MADI SATO's NEW CD, Return to the River RELEASE PARTY

Friday, August 26th, 2011 at 6pm
Center for Spiritual Living
505 Camino de las Marquez in Santa Fe.
Free and open to the public.

Two months prior to the devastating March 11th earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Madi Sato recorded an album of Japanese music in a meditation temple at the Crestone Colorado Mountain Zen Center. Madi and a group of Japanese and American musicians engaged in a powerful journey of creating together in sacred space. The album, Madi’s third, includes traditional music from her late father’s homeland of Sendai as well as her original compositions. It moves like a river through the turns and movements of Madi’s life, both in America and Japan, from childhood to motherhood and features voice, koto, shakuhachi, taiko drums, piano, bass and sounds of nature. (Produced by John Rangel.)

A portion of the proceeds from sales of Return to the River will go to the non-profit organization,
KASA: Kindness America – Sendai Alliance. KASA aims to provide relief to smaller villages in the Sendai region and to facilitate meaningful exchanges of kindness between Japanese and Americans.

CHOIR TESTIMONIAL
"Thank you for creating a place where I can feel safe and supported in expressing myself. Even though the choir is a group setting you have this rare and wonderful gift of making each one of us feel that our voice is unique and beautiful and worthy of hearing and sharing with others. Often times I would come to choir after a long and chaotic day at work feeling either exhausted or completely stressed out but I would leave an hour and a half later feeling calm, serene, and connected to not only myself but also to rest of the community. I think of the choir as medicine for the soul and I really cherish that time with you and the other women."
Allison Moore, 2011 choir member
